Matangi Truffliere is a unique and unforgettable experience that we highly recommend. Whether you’re a stressed executive in need of a peaceful getaway or a couple looking for a quiet retreat, this truffle farm is the perfect destination.
The accommodation is clean and comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The peacefulness and tranquility of the surrounding environment, with the late afternoon birdsong, add to the magical atmosphere.
During our stay, Byron gave us a personal tour of the truffle farm and organic garden, and we were impressed by the attention to detail that went into every aspect of the farm, from the cultivation of the truffles to the nurturing of the organic produce. Diane’s expertise in organic gardening was also evident in the beautiful flowers that adorned the property.
The highlight of our stay was the amazing rain shower for this busy executive who loved destressing under the hot water accompanied by a natural herbal bouquet.
Overall, Matangi Truffliere is a true gem and a testament to the beauty and serenity that can be found in nature. We highly recommend taking the time to visit this special place.

We are extremely fortunate to have found this gem of a place after a couple of weeks searching the web. Matangi is green, peaceful and lovely. So close to Hamilton yet still exuding the country charm. The Lodge is well equipped, nice green view and comfortable beds / linen for a great nights sleep.

This is our second stay at Matangi truffle lodge. We enjoyed our first stay here so much that we just had to come back and this time for 3 weeks. And it has been just as wonderful as we remembered it. Sue and Peter, thank you for being such excellent hosts, we will be back!

Brought my mother over to visit my brother in Hamilton. Expected it to be conveniently close here but was not expecting to to be so quiet, peacful, relaxing and comfortable. Don’t want to go home! Matangi Truffle Lodge has been a wonderful place to stay for our time near Hamilton. Close and convenient to Nick’s work at Waikato University, but so peaceful & quiet. Our boys have had lots of room to run around and throroughly enjoyed all the activities, outdoor and indoor. We thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for that “home away from home” experience.

Thank-you for our warm welcome to New Zealand and for looking after us during our extended stay!
I think we were very lucky to choose Truffle Lodge as our first ‘home’ in NZ and the girls have loved
the space to run around and the feijoas! Hopefully we will stay in touch and come to see the lambs
when they arrive. For anyone visiting with young children we’d definitely recommend Hamilton Gardens, Lollipops, the Lake, a trip to Rotorua and to The Base – for a spot of retail therapy!
